Gaye explained to us the importance of setting up LPAs while you are still fully in control of your own affairs. No control is taken away from you by the existence of the LPA, and it is then ready for your loved ones or carers to use should the need arise. Without it, difficult and expensive legal processes might be needed to allow (for example) family members to help with financial matters if it were to become necessary.
