Raising awareness
Informing people of Parkinson's is an ongoing task. From participating in Parkinson's Awareness Week to speaking to just a few people, we like to let people know about what we do. For example:
- Our Research Officer, Dr Kevin McFarthing, has a high profile in the Parkinson’s world as Clinical Trials Highlights editor of the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease. He also maintains the Hope List of therapies currently in development and clinical trial. Read more on our research page.
- Sally Bromley, our Branch Ambassador, regularly makes presentations to medical and pharmacy students at Oxford and Reading Universities, and has spoken to nurses, care home staff and many others at various events.
- Several of our members are active in the Rotary Club of Oxford North, and have been invited to give presentations at Rotary and other meetings.
- In July 2022 we were able to hold a cake and produce sale at a regular Saturday morning church coffee stall in Summertown, not only raising more than £500 but also filling the Banbury Road street scene with Parkinson’s publicity material!
