Fundraising

This is a big part of our success story. Despite reduced activities thanks to Covid, over 2021 we brought in £30,000 in fundraising, legacies, donations and other income.

Donations

We are always grateful for donations. You can give directly through our JustGiving page, which allows us to collect Gift Aid on your donation if it is eligible.

Alternatively, please contact our Treasurer who will be happy to help with any other arrangements: treasurer@oxfordparkinsons.org.uk

Sponsored activities

From time to time our members and supporters take part in sponsored fundraising challenges. The current list is on our sponsorships page.

Sources of income

Over 2021 we received £15,000 from legacies, and nearly £12,000 through various fundraising activities and donations. Smaller contributions came from members' subscriptions, and regular schemes such as raffles.

Expenditure

Our 2021 operating costs (admin, stationery, and costs of fundraising and membership activities) were just under £1,100 . Everything else goes to pay for our core aims: donations to research, subsidies for classes and activities that benefit our members, a payment to our parent charity to support their Covid response, and direct support to members such as respite care.

We expect our operating costs to be somewhat higher for 2022 as our normal activities get back into full swing, but of course we look forward to increased fundraising as well.

The Oxford Walk for Parkinson’s

Sponsorship income from the Oxford Walk goes directly to Parkinson’s UK and does not appear in the figures above. The 2021 walk in Wytham Woods raised about £19,000 which will go to support research working towards better understanding of the condition and an eventual cure.

Can you help?

We are always extremely interested in supporting your fundraising efforts. Sponsored challenges, community events, concerts… for any of these we can help you with publicity materials and awareness-raising. Please get in touch with any committee member if you have a fundraising idea.

Regular fundraising

At each Branch meeting there is a raffle, with prizes donated by members and wellwishers. The proceeds are used to fund taxis for members who need some help getting to and from meetings.
