Fundraising during 2019 by our members and friends

Catriona Hamlet treks to Machu Picchu

In September 2019, Catriona will participate in a week-long trek through the Peruvian Andes promoted by Parkinson's UK (more details here). Please visit Catriona's JustGiving sponsorship page to learn more and support her generously in this challenging enterprise.

DATE NOW FINALIZED! Martin Cowell’s Lands End to John o’Groats Support Epic

Alan Godfrey, fellow Rotarian of our committee member Martin Cowell, will cycle the 1000 miles from Land’s End to John o’Groats in September 2020, raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK. Meanwhile, Martin is serving as the support squad and he’s using that as a fabulous excuse to raise money for our Branch.

In Martin’s own words:

From 7th to 26th September I will be driving the ‘Support van’ behind my pal Alan and his cycling buddy Rob, as they ride ‘LEJoG’

Here’s the link to my blog. It contains two links, one to Alan’s site and another to my JustGiving page: you will see that Alan is fund-raising for Prostate Cancer and I for Parkinsons’ UK Oxford Branch.

You can follow the live journey here: our nearest points to Oxford will be Thornbury (just north of Bristol) on Friday 11th and Kidderminster on Saturday 12th.

I will be with them the whole way. We will stop two nights in a cottage near Kendal where they will prepare for Shap and Scotland (though I gather the toughest part, as far as climbing is concerned, is actually Devon!).

Christopher Casey runs the London Marathon

Chris's father David is a member of our Branch. Not satisfied with raising £4000 by organizing a spectacular fundraising ball for Parkinson's UK, Christopher ran the London Marathon on April 28th. Visit his fundraising page to sponsor him for this terrific effort.

Fifty miles in fifty days

Local Parkinson's supporter Charley James, whose father has Parkinson's, has - along with her mother and sister - embarked on the Parkinson's UK "Time to Run" challenge where non-runners commit to running a total of 50 miles in 50 days, starting on 26th February. Her fundraising page, with her story, can be found here on the Everyday Hero donations site.
